In LEGO form!

Kinja'd!!!

I got it yesterday and built it this morning. It’s super cool, and they maintain the same scale across the whole set.

I was looking around the lego website last night. I pretty much want all of it.

1 meter long/tall fully assembled with all the stages attached to one another.

It looks pretty awesome, but I think I still crave the Lego TGV more:

I ordered it for my brother for his birthday. No guarantees I won’t change my mind and keep it

Heroin is less financially ruinous than a LEGO Trains habit.

I bought it for my birthday. Mrs. Shoe Pilot got me the new Guggenheim Museum model.

Yep given the current markup I could buy a small fleet of Saturn Vs for the price of the pair of the TGV sets to make a complete trainset.

My dad snagged one at his local lego store and sent it my way, should arrive tomorrow. I also backordered two of them on Lego’s site...

There was a line at the register about 5 deep when I got to the Lego store. Everyone was my age (old) and had this set in their hands. They had a little cart next to the registers that was stacked with more sets and there was a guy on pretty much perpetual “go get more out of the back” duty.

I’d say they’ve got a winner.

I got mine on the release day too, but waiting for some time with my boys to build it. 4 and 3 a d they love lego. I don’t dare start without them, but it’s been late work nights and play dates for them all weekend. Maybe Tuesday night. Hopefully. They also got me the mining machine set for Father’s Day :) so we have to wait to open it up. Legos are awesome.

The big bucket wheel excavator is very cool indeed - mine’s sitting here on my desk. That’ll be all you, there’s no way 3 and 4 year olds can put that together. The Saturn 5 is a little tricky, but not too bad. Snug fits and wobbly assemblies makes getting studs and tubes to line up right the first time a little challenging, but once everything is pressed together it’s a nice sturdy model.

Yeah, when they “help” it’s more like I get the pegs started, and they snap them home. My 3 year old is good for about 10 mins then he’s good to go, and the 4 year old is a little better, he will go for a half hour or so. They both “helped” with the technics Porsche set, and I didn’t want to do too much without them, we got a lot of lego nights out of that set. They still talk about helping daddy, so now I always have helpers. My 4 year old has been doing the nexo knights and lego batman sets without help. It’s impressive. He’s even pretty good with the stickers too. I figure I’d rather have him working on legos instead of playing on the iPad or in front of the tv. Now the three year old, he still need a bit of assistance. So I anticipate a looong build for both the Saturn V and the mining machine. Now I just need some more shelves.

I need more shelves too. I had to move some stuff around to find a place for the Saturn V and now I am well and truly OUT of space, and I still haven’t purchased/built the new UC snowspeeder model.
